At-Home Veterinary Services

We offer a limited range of non-emergency home veterinary services to make heath maintenance and end-of-life care less stressful for you and your pets.

  • Annual/Triennial Vaccinations

We offer the standard range of vaccinations for dogs and cats, including a basic health check. Detailed health checks or any issues of concern should be addressed with your regular veterinarian.

  • Non-Emergency Euthanasia

The decision to say goodbye is never easy. We will provide your pet with a compassionate and peaceful goodbye in the comfort of their home. We can also help with aftercare arrangements.

  • Arthritis and Pain Management Injections

If your pet has been diagnosed with arthritis or another issue requiring ongoing pain management injections, we can administer many of the most common options at home.

FAQs

  • No. Dr Louise is a practicing veterinarian and works regularly at several veterinary clinics. However her services offered through Hope On A Leash are strictly limited to vaccinations, administration of ongoing pain management drugs and non-emergency (i.e. planned) euthanasia.

  • No. We work by appointment only, and only for non-urgent health maintenance and end-of-life services as specifically outlined above.

  • As these are in-person services, they are only available in the Bass Coast and South Gippsland areas. If you live outside these areas, we may be able to make arrangements to assist, but this is assessed case by case based on location and our availability.

  • Dr Louise will talk to you before the appointment to answer any questions you may have, and to understand your and your pet’s circumstances. She will also talk to you about aftercare (i.e. cremation or home burial, memorialisation etc) so that those arrangements are in place.

At the euthanasia appointment, Dr Louise will administer sedation for your pet to ensure they’re relaxed and not in any pain. She will explain what to expect with your pets breathing, heart and body after the euthanasia medication is administered. You’ll have as much time as you need to say goodbye; it will be up to you to let Dr Louise know when you’re ready. She will then administer the euthanasia medication and monitor your pet’s breathing and heartbeat until they have passed.

  • No problem. Just contact us and we’ll be happy to answer your questions. Please remember that Hope On A Leash is not an urgent care or emergency service. It may take a few days for us to get back to you. If your issue is urgent, please contact your regular veterinarian.
